Sunset over the iconic Castle Rock on the beach at Brenton-on-Sea on the South African Garden Route (Western Cape). I captured this image amid pelting rain and lightning overhead. I wanted to shoot so many compositions here but went with the one that kept my gear the driest. It still got pretty wet.
This is a SINGLE exposure, gotta love the dynamic range of the D800 sensor.
You know, many of your shots deserves a daily deviation. They're so clean and beautiful and gives such a feeling to it, by just looking at them. It's almost as if you were there, to feel the wind breeze, hear the splashing of the waves and smell the scent of the ocean. Truly wonderful!
Niiiice. That's one heck of a dynamic range there.. how much did you need to pull back? It doesn't look like it's raining! Great shot too. Really nice colours you caught here. 14-24?
thanks shot with the 24-70mm, which was a blessing in disguise as the lens hood really kept enough of the pouring rain off the lens to enable me to snap some shots...
I went with the darker exposure and lifted the shadows a bit - amazing performance!

I can imagine!
That's quite a dynamic range to pull it back that much. It works well!
Now I have to save for a D3s...
Welcome.
